There are simply no exceptions to the rule. You cannot drink caffeine or alcohol for at least 24 hours before your appointment. There are a few reasons why you should take this advise onboard

Slow healing and risk of infection
Alcohol can effect the skins regenerative properties meaning the wound will stay open longer giving more chance for infection. It's imperative you follow your aftercare to the letter to ensure brows are kept clean throughout the healing journey. It not only prevents infection but will also greatly impact your healed results.
Excessive Bleeding & Sensitivity
Both caffeine and alcohol can thin the blood causing you to bleed more which makes it harder to implant the pigment. As you can imagine, anything coming from underneath the pigment will just push it out. Whilst pigment will be implanted you may not get the results you imagined - which none of us want! It can also make the skin more sensitive meaning you may experience more pain that you expected. Whilst a topical numb is used we cannot guarantee you won't feel some discomfort.
Pain receptors are usually more active in the run up to our periods so this may be something you want to consider when booking your appointment. We are all different so if you know you struggle in the run up to your monthly visit book your appointment for the week after to be on the safe side.

Weakened Immune System & Excessive Lymph Production
Hangover from hell ring any bells, or even just a thick head for a few hours. We all know how alcohol can make you feel the day after. Our immune systems are weakened, hence the hangover. Stay away from it! It all impacts the procedure and healing process. Weaker immune system = slower healing.
Lymph is a clear fluid that the skin produces to aid the body in healing, it creates a scab, but; for PMU this is exactly what we want to avoid. Too much lymph production during the treatment can make implanting pigment difficult and whilst healing create thick scabs which impacts retention of pigment. By cleaning on a regular basis you clean away the lymph so stop the scabs forming. Some light flaking/scabbing is normal and you must leave them alone. Picking them will pull the pigment out.
What else should you avoid?

Products like Retinol, aha peels, acids that are applied to the skin tend to make it thinner. You should stop using them in the treatment area at least two weeks before your appointment in order to ensure you skin at optimal health.
Please take this advice on board, it's very important to ensure your skin is in the best condition possible. Drink lots of water in the week running up to your appointment. It's underrated. If you don't believe me, try it! Take a nice clear photo of your skin after a morning wash (before you apply any products) then do it again a week later. I have no doubt you will notice the difference. For me personally, my fine lines are much less prominent and my lips are so much softer. It's just good for us, why wouldn't you??? I love a cup of tea first thing in the morning but once I've had one I don't make another until I've drank a glass of water. I drink water with my meals and only water after about 7pm. Don't get me wrong.... sometimes I let things slide and the first sign that I have is my skin and lips. So don't hesitate... drink the good stuff.
Much Love to you all V xxx
